About Me:
 

Natacha Moreno, M.S., CCC-SLP is a licensed speech-language pathologist with certification in the Compton P-ESL (Pronouncing English as a Second Language) Accent Modification Method.  As an American who acquired French as a second language, she relates to the pride born of one’s native language, yet has personally experienced  how accented speech can be a communication barrier.  With respect and cultural sensitivity, Natacha provides clients with the necessary help and training required to establish proper English pronunciation  andintonation patterns for more effective communication. 

Accent reduction may benefit individuals who:

 

  • rely on clear speech in business, medical, religious, and/or educational settings

  • must repeat themselves frequently in order to be understood

  • experience personal or career limitations due to accented speech

  • avoid speaking in certain settings or circumstances

  • have difficulty being understood over the telephone

 

 

What to expect from your accent reduction program:

 

  • An initial interview and administration of the Phonological Assessment of Foreign Accent

  • A phonetic speech analysis summarizing your challenging speech sounds and accent patterns

  • A completely individualized learning program with a comprehensive set of practice exercises

  • A training manual containing your personal speech analysis and scripts for the recorded practice materials

  • Practice of intonation patterns of words and sentences in American English, emphasizing pitch, stress, and rate of speech

  • A comprehensive set of home practice exercises

  • Instruction by a speech-language pathologist with training and experience in changing communicative behaviors

  • An audio recorded reevaluation at the end of your course to provide a completely objective measure of your success

  • At least a 50% improvement in your pronunciation of American English upon completion of your course and practice assignments
